Introduction:
Throughout the history of our nation, poets have striven to write about, reflect and surmise on that history. This unit of three lessons will cover the American poets; Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), Francis Scott Key (1779 – 1843), and Emma Lazarus (1849 – 1887).
Through the poems and their historical settings; Paul Revere’s Ride, The Star-Spangled Banner and The New Colossus, students will explore the theme of Liberty.
