Chesapeake Summer of 1814for Orchestra and Chorus by Michael Gandolfi with a libretto by Dana Bonstrom and visual accompaniment and choreography by Anne Patterson. This work is a commission by our collaborator the Reno Philharmonic Association and their music director Laura Jackson.
Library of Congress Recital: Baritone Thomas Hampson will partner with SSMF on a symposium and performance in his Song of America project at the Library of CongressLibrary of Congress on July 3, 2014.
Exhibition: The Grammy Museum (Los Angeles) and SSMF will develop an exhibit about the anthem and its recorded history for visitors, schools and online in addition to coordinating with well-known recording artists.
Band: The University of Michigan Marching Band will create and perform a football halftime show also to be distributed via the web to collegiate and high school marching bands.
Choral: The American Choral Directors Association will produce an annotated guide to choral versions of “The Star-Spangled Banner” for use by ensembles at all levels.
