Poets & Patriots: A Tuneful History of “The Star-Spangled Banner” contains 37 tracks that trace the history of the U.S. national anthem from its origins in 1775/76 in London to Francis Scott Key writing lyrics in the Chesapeake Bay through its symbolic resonance during the U.S. Civil War through its official status as anthem by act of Congress in 1931.
