World renowned American baritone Thomas Hampson, also a scholar of art song by American poets and composers and creator of the Hampsong Foundation, teamed up with SSMF and musicologist Mark Clague, Ph.D. to present a recital at the U.S. Library of Congress at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Tickets to this celebration of the 200th anniversary of Francis Scott Key’s song were free.
Performers included collaborative pianist Matthew Thompson (University of Michigan) and a male chorus of University of Michigan alumni singers and friends. Singers included Robert Baker, Jean Bernard Cerin (DMA 2014), Mark Clague (B.M. 1991), David Kozisek (MM 2007), Michael Rowan, Michael Steelman (BMA 2002), and Matthew Schwartz.
