The Star-Spangled Banner across the Arts

2nd grade students will be learning about the Battle at Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key, and the composition of The Star-Spangled Banner through music, art, and dance.  Students will study paintings about the Battle at Fort McHenry in art class, learn about Francis Scott Key and the story of The Star-Spangled Banner and to sing the song in music class, and learn a colonial dance from 1814 in physical education class.

Learning Objectives:
1. To learn about the Battle at Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key and the writing of the song The Star-Spangled Banner through multiple methods.
2. To prepare the singing of Patriotic songs for the Star-Spangled Banner Day school assembly on 9/12/14.
3. To learn and perform a colonial dance from 1814.
